Trauma-Informed & Developmentally Responsive to the needs of teens and young adults (12-25)

Mental Health Therapist in Grand Junction Working with Teens and Young Adults

Accepts Medicaid, and United Healthcare Plans Including Rocky Mountain Health Plans

I am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) currently completing my clinical hours toward licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I earned both my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from Colorado Mesa University and bring a strong background in healthcare and integrated care settings to my clinical work.

I primarily work with adolescents and young adults ages 12–25 who are navigating anxiety, trauma, sensory differences, identity development, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Many of the clients I support experience difficulties with emotional regulation, sensory overwhelm, medical or school-related stress, and feeling misunderstood by adults or systems around them. These challenges may show up as frequent conflict at home, behavioral concerns at school, disengagement from care, or difficulty communicating needs to parents, teachers, and medical providers. I am particularly attuned to youth who feel “too much,” misunderstood, or labeled as difficult when their behaviors are better understood through a developmental and nervous-system lens. While this age range is my primary focus, I welcome clients outside of it and value exploring fit collaboratively.

I approach therapy using a trauma-informed and developmentally responsive framework, helping clients better understand how their experiences, stress responses, and nervous systems influence emotions and behavior. In sessions, I work with teens and young adults to build skills for emotional awareness, regulation, and expression; strengthen communication; and develop safer and more effective ways to cope with distress. My goal is to help clients feel more in control of their reactions, more connected in their relationships, and more confident advocating for their needs across settings.

My work draws from a range of evidence-informed approaches, including trauma-informed care, cognitive and behavioral strategies, and relational and systems-based interventions. Rather than focusing on rigid techniques, I prioritize meeting clients where they are and adapting tools to fit their developmental stage, sensory needs, and lived experiences. My background in healthcare allows me to collaborate effectively with medical providers and support clients and families navigating complex medical, behavioral health, or school systems.

I am committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative therapeutic space grounded in empathy, curiosity, and genuine human connection. I am deeply attentive to equity and culturally responsive practice and recognize the impact of systemic factors on mental health and access to care. I view therapy as a partnership and believe meaningful change happens when clients feel understood, supported, and empowered.
