My Approach: A Sacred Space for the Work
“You are welcome here—all parts of you.”
Therapy is more than just a place to talk about pain—although that is often where we must begin. I view therapy as a safe and sacred space where we move beyond “venting” to begin the actual process of transformation.
In my practice, we don’t just tell stories; we do the work. This means learning tangible skills to regulate your nervous system and building the capacity to sit with painful emotions without being consumed by them. My goal is for you to leave therapy not just feeling heard but feeling transformed rather than depleted.
I want to welcome you into a relationship built on safety, warmth, and acceptance. We will move at your pace, and I invite every part of you—even the parts you struggle to accept—into this space.
Josh Gieger, LCSW
I believe these struggles are not the result of personal failure, but of cultural and family messages that have left many men disconnected from themselves.
I’ve felt that way too, and I can tell you that things can be different. Change begins with the willingness to look inward. The will to change.

Who we work with
Relationships may feel unsafe, marked by conflict, fear of abandonment, or a deep belief that you are not “good enough.”
Maybe willpower hasn’t worked. You’ve read the books, tried new routines, shifted your mindset, but nothing sticks.
You might feel disconnected from your body or tethered to the past through intrusive memories.
We believe healing is possible. You are not broken. Often, you are caught in protective patterns that once helped you survive. Together, we help you move from feeling stuck to becoming more self-led, grounded, and connected.
You feel swept up in the current
You are just trying to “get by,” waking up to do the same thing every day with no sense of joy or purpose.
Relationships feel unsafe
You find yourself trapped in patterns of conflict, fear of abandonment, or a deep-seated belief that you aren’t “good enough.”
Willpower isn’t working
You’ve read the self-help books, tried to change your perspective, or started new routines, but nothing seems to stick.
You feel disconnected
You feel detached from your body or the people around you, wrestling with intrusive memories that keep you tethered to the past.

Specialty: Men’s Mental Health | Trauma & Relational Wounds | Grief & Loss | EMDR Trained | Adults
The men I work with often feel trapped—trapped within themselves. They struggle to communicate their emotions to the people around them. Sometimes, they’re not even sure what they’re feeling anymore. They feel caught between the image of who they want to be—who their families, partners, and children expect them to be—and the person they experience themselves to be each day.
Many do not feel good enough and often never have. They carry anxiety, persistent worry, a sense of aimlessness, fears of not being needed, or even a deep dislike of themselves. I’ve felt that way too, and I can tell you that things can be different. Change begins with the willingness to look inward. The will to change. Join me in finding that willingness.
I’m Josh Gieger, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (a fancy term for therapist), and I work with adult men who are navigating these challenges and more. Whether you’re wrestling with questions of belonging, worthiness, behavioral change, or responding to the encouragement—perhaps even criticism—of a partner that has made you curious about therapy, I invite you to reach out.
I believe these struggles are not the result of personal failure, but of messages from our culture, society, media, and sometimes family that have left many men feeling crushed and disconnected from themselves. To help you reconnect and find your strength, I use approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR. Together, we work to help you understand yourself more deeply, heal old wounds, and move toward becoming the man you believe you can be—even if that version looks different than you originally imagined.
While much of my work focuses on men, I am experienced in working with people of all gender identities facing a wide range of challenges. I specialize in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma—whether or not that word resonates with you. If “trauma” doesn’t quite fit, we can simply call it the hard sh*t you’ve been through. Many of the people I work with have experienced complex relational wounds stemming from earlier life experiences. I also work with individuals navigating grief and loss, whether related to death or other significant life changes.
Invite you to reach out and begin or pick up on your healing journey.

Specialty: Trauma & Complex Trauma | Anxiety & Depression | Attachment | EMDR Certified | Somatic Experiencing | Play Therapy & Theraplay | Children (3+), Teens, Adults | Spanish-Speaking | Immigration Psychological Assessments
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in treating trauma, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, and attachment issues/ruptures. I work with children 3+, teens, and adults. I offer services in both English and Spanish.
Many of the clients that I work with find themselves navigating the impacts of trauma, attachment issues/ruptures, or ongoing stress from current life circumstances. When seeking therapy, clients often tell me that they feel overwhelmed by their emotions, stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, or unsure how to cope with life’s many challenges. Many are seeking healing from trauma, others may want to better understand themselves, or folks may want to continue to grow their capacity to regulate their nervous system or their child’s nervous system.
I attempt to bring a sense of ease, compassion, and humor to my sessions. I offer supportive, non-judgmental observations and strengths-based support for all my clients. My goal is to offer a therapeutic space of connection and to aim at moving at the client’s own pace, tapping into the resiliency and capacity for growth that resides within them. I value each person’s lived experience and enjoy working with clients of all identities, recognizing that each individual’s story is uniquely their own. All races, all ethnicities, all genders, all sexual orientations, all bodies, and all religions are welcome.
I am EMDR certified and am also trained in Somatic Experiencing (Advanced Level), Theraplay, CPC-CBT, and TF-CBT. I often integrate elements of parts work (IFS), sandplay, play therapy, and other attachment, trauma-informed, and brain and body connecting approaches that best meet clients where they are. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is an integral part of the therapeutic journey, and that having a good fit where clients feel safe, comfortable, and respected is of the utmost importance to me.
I have recently relocated to Grand Junction from Nashville, Tennessee, after 13 years, however I am originally from Southern California. When not in session, I enjoy practicing yoga, birding along the Colorado River, watching a good film, or walking a new to me hiking trail. Outside of that, I love spending time outside as often as possible and I am always planning my next travel destination with friends or with my partner in his built-out transit van.
For Joshua to Know:
I typically like to have no more than 50% of my caseload being children due to the extra parent and systems work. I really enjoy working with folks that want to use EMDR or Somatic Experiencing for processing trauma or treating symptoms of anxiety, depression an attachment issues. I also enjoy utilizing Theraplay for children to help build or repair attachment issues with their caregivers. This also is another somatic practice to aid kiddos in nervous systems regulation. I can also do EMDR with all ages.
